How / when did yoga come into your life? What does yoga mean to you?
Yoga came on my path after my second son was born. I needed time for myself. Not just moving around for an hour, but stepping out of the running and care mode and feeling how I am doing, being with myself and relax.
The first style of yoga that I came across was Ashtanga Yoga. I enjoyed (and I still do) the peace it brought me. Because the asanas have a fixed order, after a while you stop thinking about the postures and you can turn inward. After a while I decided to join a Yin Yoga class. That was not easy. The postures were uncomfortable but wonderful, especially when you leave the posture. I found it much more difficult to be in the same position for a longer period of time and to keep my attention to myself as much as possible. Both forms have remained in my life for the following years.
A few years ago I found out that I was not happy with working 32 hours in the office. I was too busy racing and too little concerned with what I found really fun and important. That had to change and I decided that I would follow my heart.
What can students expect in your lesson? What do you want to give your students?
In my lesson we don't just work on stimulating connective tissue. In daily life we are often busy with everything and thereby forget ourselves. Both your body and your breathing are indicators of how you are doing. By paying close attention to this, you create awareness, you learn to feel what is good for you and where your limits are.
What do you do besides yoga?
I like to spend my time with family and friends, I like to go to the forest with the dog and I like to eat out.
